International Launch Services

International Launch Services (ILS ) is an American- Russian joint venture, which is responsible for the exclusive worldwide commercial marketing of the Proton rocket.

History

ILS was founded in 1995 as a private aerospace company Lockheed Martin, Khrunichev and RKK Energia GKNPZ for commercialization of the U.S. Atlas V and the Russian Proton.

With the launch of Astra 1F on 9 April 1996, the first satellite under the leadership of ILS was successfully launched into orbit.

In September 2006, Lockheed Martin announced that it will sell its stake in ILS. On 11 October 2006, the ILS of Lockheed Martin were eventually sold to Space Transport Inc.. ILS had already settled at this time 37 successful commercial Proton launches. With the departure of Lockheed Martin and commercialization of the Atlas V at Lockheed Martin Commercial Launch Services has been transferred.

In May 2008, finally took Khrunichev Research and Production Space Center all shares of Space Transport Inc..

Present and future

Principal owner of International Launch Services is currently Khrunichev. Since its founding 65 Proton launches were carried out under the leadership of ILS ( Release 22 May 2011).

Currently marketed exclusively ILS Proton rocket. The future Russian Angara new development to be sold by ILS. The marketing of the Angara is only from 2016Vorlage: done future / In 2 years, if new launch facilities have been built for commercial use.
