International Martial Arts Federation

IMAF is the abbreviation for Kokusai Budoin, International Martial Arts Federation (Japanese国际 武 道 院 国际 武 道 连 盟, Kokusai Budoin, Kokusai Budo Renmei ). It is the oldest Japanese Budo umbrella organization (founded 1952) and a foundation of the imperial family. Such was also the first President of IMAF member of the imperial family, Prince Kaya Tsunenori. President of IMAF Kokusai Budoin since the year 2000 Yasuhisa Tokugawa, a great-grandson of the last Japanese Shogun.

IMAF describes its goals as "the promotion and dissemination of Japanese martial arts and the support of world peace and helpfulness ."

  • Sato Shizuya (10th Dan Nihon Ju-Jitsu, Hanshi, 9th Dan Judo Hanshi, current IMAF - Chief Instructor )
  • Hirokazu Kanazawa (10th Dan Karate-Do Hanshi, "Mr. Shotokan ", founder of the SKI )
  • Ōtsuka Hironori (10th Dan Karate-do Meijin, founder of Wado - Ryu )
  • Yamaguchi GoGEN (10th Dan Karate-Do Hanshi, " the cat ", the main representative of the Goju - Ryu in Japan )
  • Kisshomaru Ueshiba ( Aikido, Hanshi 9th Dan, son of Morihei Ueshiba )
  • Shioda Gozo ( 10th Dan Meijin Aikido, founder of Yoshinkan Aikido )
  • Yamaguchi Katsuo (10th Dan Meijin Iaidō )

IMAF Kokusai Budoin is the only Budo Association of Japan, which is authorized to confer the honorary title of Renshi, Kyoshi, Hanshi and Meijin in all martial arts.

Full membership in the IMAF is loud their statutes every " specially qualified Budoka from 4.Dan " open. Budoka lower graduation can apply for associate membership.

In Germany, the IMAF Kokusai Budoin of the German -Asian martial arts organization (DAKO ) is represented under the chairmanship of karate pioneer Hans -Dieter Rauscher from Freiburg.
