International Ombudsman Institute

The International Ombudsman Institute ( IOI ) is an independent, non-political international organization based in Vienna. The approximately 140 members are national, regional and local ombudsman institutions from about 75 countries.

The I.O.I. was founded in 1978 and has regional groups in Africa, Asia, Australia and the Pacific, the Caribbean and Latin America as well as in North America and Europe. Through her work, she promotes the exchange of information and experiences between ombudsman institutions worldwide.
