International Paralympic Committee

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC ) is an association of international disabled sports associations and national organizations. It was founded on September 22, 1989 in Dusseldorf, and has its official seat in Bonn ( Adenauer Allee 212/214 ). Currently there are 162 National Paralympic Committees, as well as four international disabled sports associations Member of the IPC. President of the committee was to 2001, the Canadian Robert Steadward. He was succeeded as President Sir Philip Craven, former Paralympian and President of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation. There is a close contact between the IPC and the IOC.

The IPC organizes the most important competitions at the global level for disabled athletes in the four- year cycle, the Paralympic Games. Moreover, it is also responsible for hosting various world championships.
