International Publishers Association

The Union Internationale des Éditeurs ( UIE ), English International Publishers Association, German International Publishers' Union was in Paris ( France) founded in 1896 to represent the interests of book, music and magazine publishers. She is particularly committed to the protection of authors and copyright rights and freedom of the press.

The umbrella organization that unites currently 78 national, regional and specialized publishers associations from 65 countries, is a non-governmental organization accredited with consultative status at the United Nations.

Its secretariat is based in Geneva ( Switzerland ).
