International Risk Governance Council

The International Risk Council, the International Risk Governance Council ( IRGC ) is an independent foundation that was established in June 2003 on the initiative of the Swiss government. The IRGC support governments, businesses and other organizations and supporting, through public confidence in dealing with risk and thus related decisions:

  • Investigation of different views and behaviors
  • Providing independent and reliable information
  • Improving the understanding and assessment of key risks and their ambiguity
  • Development of innovative, efficient and equitable strategies for dealing with risks

The IRGC is a unique platform for a global risk dialogue and an information resource for a common scientific knowledge. On this basis, the IRGC written recommendations and guidelines in dealing with risks. The new form of a transparent network allows cross-sectoral and multidisciplinary approaches in addressing the related with risk topics. Here, the IRGC focuses on human-induced risks.
