International Scientific Optical Network

The International Scientific Optical Network ( ISON ) is a group of about 20 astronomical observatories in ten countries.

The goal of this merger is to detect objects in space. It is headed by the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics (Russian: Институт прикладной математики им М.В.Келдыша. ), Which belongs to the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Among the discoveries of this organization, the comet C/2010 X1 include ( Elenin ) and C/2012 S1 ( ISON ). The latter was named after the abbreviation of the observation network.
