International Shark Attack File

The International Shark Attack File (ISAF ) is a global database of shark attacks. The database is due to the attempt to categorize shark attacks on U.S. Marines during the Second World War and be examined. It was financially supported appropriately by the U.S. Office of Naval Research from 1958 to 1968. During this time, a panel of shark experts developed a standardized collection of shark attacks that occurred worldwide.

The database has been a long time maintained by the Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, Florida, to the database at the Florida Museum of Natural History at the University of Florida was passed.

The database contains entries for more than 4,000 shark attacks and often involves detailed, limited publicly available information about the course as well as photographs of the victims, the course charts and autopsy reports. The database is only accessible to scientists after a qualifying examination.
