International Supercomputing Conference

The International Supercomputing Conference ( ISC abbreviation ) is an annually held in Germany international scientific conference and exhibition on the themes of supercomputers and high-performance computing. Traditionally, the first of the two annual updates of the TOP500 supercomputer rankings will be published at this conference.

History

The conference was co-founded in 1986 by Hans -Werner Meuer, then director of the computer center and a professor of computer science at the University of Mannheim, under the name " Super Computer Seminar".

In 1993, Meuer together with Erich Strohmaier (formerly at the University of Mannheim, then at the NERSC ) and Jack Dongarra ( University of Tennessee and ORNL ), the TOP500, a ranking of supercomputers, the beginning still "Mannheim Supercomputer Statistics" was called. The leaderboard will be updated twice a year, the first update in the ISC in Germany and the second update in the IEEE Super Computer Conference is presented in the United States.

From 1986 to 2000, the conference was held in Mannheim, from 2001 to 2005 at the International Convention Centre in Heidelberg. From 2006 to 2008, the conferences were held at the International Congress Center in Dresden. The International Supercomputing Conference then moved to the Congress Center Hamburg, where it resided from 2009 to 2012. From 2013, the ISC will be held in the Congress Center Leipzig.
