International Translation Day

The International Translation Day ( Journée mondiale de la traduction, International Translation Day) is celebrated every year on September 30, the anniversary of the death of Jerome ( in the year 420 ), a church father who translated the Old Testament from Hebrew into Latin spoken. Jerome is the patron saint of translators.

This celebration was launched by the International Federation of traducteurs (FIT) to life, and that since it is this (founded in Paris in 1954 ). 1991 FIT launched the idea for an official "International Translation Day " to show solidarity within the global community of translators and to promote the profession of translator in different, not necessarily Christian countries. This day is an opportunity to show pride in a profession which is increasingly gaining importance in an era of increasing globalization. Every year, there are now, inter alia, by BDUE actions throughout Germany.
