International Union of Soil Sciences

The International Union of Soil Sciences ( IUSS ) ( German: International Union of Soil Sciences ) is a on 19 May 1924 as the International Society of Soil Science ( ISSS ), founded scientific society of Soil Science. The renaming of ISSS to IUSS in 1998. The association is a member of the International Council for Science ( ICSU ). Regularly (now every four years ) aligns the IUSS in different places the pedological World Congress World Congress of Soil Science ( WCSS ) from. The 19th WCSS took place in 2010 in Brisbane ( Australia), Congress in 2014 is planned in South Korea.

The IUSS include nearly 90 national and regional companies worldwide, representing a total of about 55,000 scientists of soil science. In the German-speaking area of the IUSS belong to the German Soil Science Society ( DBG ), the Austrian Society of Soil Science ( ÖBG ) and the Soil Science Society of Switzerland ( BGS ).

Publication organ of the IUSS is published twice a year IUSS Bulletin.
