International Wrestling Association (Puerto Rico)

The International Wrestling Association, IWA Puerto Rico, is a wrestling federation, founded in Puerto Rico in 1999 by Victor Quiñones. As an alternative shortcut also IWA Puerto Rico is sometimes used.

History

The history of the IWA Puerto Rico began in Japan in 1994, when Victor Quiñones, IWA Japan founded. The IWA Puerto Rico is considered to be the Spanish language sister organization in Latin America.

Between the years of 1999 and 2001, the IWA Puerto Rico was an ( unofficial ) development territory of World Wrestling Entertainment, and thus a farm league of the wrestling market leader, since this league was until 2007 an official member of NWA.

The IWA Puerto Rico should not be confused with the IWA by Eddie Einhorn, which was operated in the 1970s as part of the NWA.

Today's IWA Puerto Rico is the direct competition of the World League Wrestling Council.
