Internationale Gartenausstellung 2017

The International Horticultural Exposition 2017 (short IGA 2017) will be held until October for 170 days in Berlin's Marzahn Recreational Park in April.

Planning and procurement

In November 2008, the Berlin Senate decided that Berlin to apply to the venue on the Tempelhof field for the IGA in 2017 and reached in March 2009 the application. The city of Aachen had applied for it, but withdrew due to contractual difficulties in the application. On 17 November 2009 the shareholders' meeting of the German Federal Garden Show Society awarded the contract for the Berlin Tempelhof Airport for the IGA in 2017 as the venue. After the successful decision, the IGA Berlin was founded in 2017 GmbH and one initial concepts for the location Tempelhof and the IGA team developed was also constructed personnel and expanded. Besides at the Tempelhof field developed into a fascinating space for Berliners in need of cautious and gradual development. Thus, the Senate looked around for a new location and found the Marzahn Recreational Park, a new venue.

IGA Park

Prelude Heller village

For the IGA 2017 new landscape is being built that will connect in the future with the Wuhletal, the pine mountain and Marzahn under the name prelude Heller village. By the year 2017, the start of an urban experience space is to be built.

Funicular

On 27 February 2014, the contract between the Leitner AG from South Tyrol in Italy and the IGA was signed in 2017 Berlin GmbH for the new cable car. The cost of construction, operation, and 14 million euros bear the Leitner AG. The cable car is built in 2016 and runs from the village up to the kick-off Heller Kienberg and on to the third input and output Blumenberg leads dam and back.

Garden band

North of Blumberg dam creates an expansion area for the contemporary garden art. From 2013 onwards, the band is artistically designed garden.
