Internationale Politik

The journal European Archives (abbreviated EA), now under the name of International Politics (IP) known, was a twice- monthly German -language trade publication for European, political, economic and cultural issues. Authors were renowned scientists, politicians and journalists from home and abroad.

The magazine was founded by Wilhelm Cornides, who also served as a longtime editor.

Focus of the journal

Focus of the magazine were in the documentation and publication of Europe -related topics and documents in German language.

Editorship

The editorship was for many years at William Cornides itself from the beginning of the 50s, the EA was published by Wilhelm Cornides in conjunction with the Institute for European politics and economics. The German Society for Foreign Policy ( DGAP) has adopted the European Archive as their official disclosure, self-published in 1955. From 1967, took over Wolfgang Wagner responsible editorship.

In 1995 the editorship of Werner Weidenfeld was transferred. It was also in 1995, renamed the EA in International Politics (IP).

Publisher

The Europa-Archiv was originally (, Taunus near Frankfurt am Main ) relocated from the publisher Europa-Archiv, Oberursel.

The German Society for Foreign Policy (DGAP ) occurred after times on the EA as a publisher in self-publishing. 1972 took over the publishing of International Politics GmbH (VIP ), Bonn publishers shaft.

Editing

Responsible editors was 1949 Wilhelm Cornides itself in 1949 ( Volume 2 ) was the main editors on Hermann Full and Gertrud Becker ( Becker Gertrude silver ) extended. Subsequently, the main editors ( Editor in Chief ) was only until 1986 when Hermann Full. In 1986, the chief editor of Jochen Thies was taken and was from 1993 when Angelika Full.

Emphases

The documentation for special emphases was published for the first time independently with the 2/ 1947. Theme of the first special issue (Volume 1) in an edition of 10'000 pieces was the report of the American military government (Edited by Arthur Settel ): The German economy since Potsdam. A (not originally public ) Working Report of the Economic Section of the American military government.

Publication period, scope, and format support

The EA was published from July 1946 monthly with a circulation of 10,000 pieces, from 1947 in an edition of 12,000 pieces (specifications according to editor). As of 1949, the EA (circulation 12,000 pieces still ) appeared twice a month.

It was originally planned that the EA should regularly include only 48 pages ( specified reasons). However, this self-restraint could not be maintained long and in the 2nd year of will was indeed postulated to continue this restriction by the editor, but not also observed subsequently.

Also, for technical reasons, partially double numbers were issued.

An annual register as property and persons register was published separately at the beginning of the following year and settled an output of the EA.

The EA had in the editions up to the early 1960s, the final format of 22 cm x 30 cm (width x height ) or 1949 bit smaller and then a standard book format.

Special

The year cycle count began with the publication of the first journal in July 1946 and ended in July of the following year. From the January 1948 year cycle count was associated with the respective beginning. The Vintages 1946 include pages 1 to 668 and 1947, Pages 669-1060.

The EA was published with permission from the American occupation authority under the publishing license no. U.S. W 2007 and was originally delivered by R. Oldenbourg Verlag ( Munich).

Distribution in Austria was perceived by the publisher for history and politics, Vienna from 1949.

Initial Issue

The initial issue was 4 RM and from 1949 at DM 2 /6 ATS for the single issue.

Further development

In 1995, the Europa-Archiv, Journal of International Politics in the 50th year in International Politics (IP) has been renamed.

The year cycle count was maintained even after the renaming.
