Internet Research Task Force

The Internet Research Task Force ( IRTF ) is next to the Internet Engineering Task Force ( IETF) is one of two working groups of the Internet Architecture Board ( IAB). It was founded in 1986 to promote research and development in the field of networks and their techniques. It consists of researchers in the field of network technology with a focus on Internet.

The Internet Research Steering Group ( IRSG ) directs and coordinates the research. This leads sometimes to interface with the work of the IETF. Even the members of the groups, there are overlaps.
