Interscope Records

Interscope Records is an American record label. It is now a sub-label of Universal Music Group ( in turn daughter of Vivendi, formerly Vivendi Universal). Interscope is part of the Interscope - Geffen -A & M label group from Universal.

Company History

Interscope Records was founded in 1989 by Jimmy Iovine. Two years later, in 1991, the Warner Music Group Interscope Records bought 50% more than the sales and marketing of the record label to be determined. A year later, the gangsta rap label Death Row Records was added. First artist, Dr. Dre before his first song under the gangsta rap label.

The biggest financial success for the label was the sale of Snoop Dogg's debut album Doggystyle in 1993, but this was surpassed by the sale of 50 Cents debut album Get Rich Or Die Tryin '10 years later.

1995 bought to MCA Music Entertainment (parent of Universal Music Group ) Interscope Records completely. A year later came Polygram to Interscope. 1997 Interscope has separated itself from the successful label Death Row Records. In 1998, Polygram named to Universal Music Records. In late 2007, Interscope merged with Geffen Records.

Among the artists of the label include, among other 44, Nine Inch Nails (until 2007), Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit (until 2011 ), Lady Gaga, Nicole Scherzinger, Gwen Stefani, G Unit, Mos Def, JoJo, Will Smith, Jurassic 5, OneRepublic, Scars on Broadway, Eminem, Enrique Iglesias, Black Eyed Peas, Pharrell Williams, Tokio Hotel, Soulja Boy, 2Pac, Sheryl Crow, Rise Against, Zedd, Carly Rae Jepsen and many other artists and rappers - mainly in the hip hop range.
