InterSky (actually InterSky Luftfahrt GmbH ) is an Austrian regional airline based in Bregenz. With operational headquarters in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

History

Founding and first years

InterSky was founded in 2001 by the Austrian aviation entrepreneur Renate Moser and her husband Rolf Seewald. Seewald had previously owned the airline flight Rhine Valley, conducted by the German Lufthansa AG in the so-called Team Lufthansa Regional flights in Germany and Austria. Shortly before September 11, 2001, she sold the airline to the Austrian Airlines Group. After the sale of the Rhine Valley Flight Moser and Seewald had two machines that Austrian Airlines had not taken over. Due to the impact of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 to the aviation industry Moser was able to sell only one of the two machines. To deal with the remaining, she founded with the proceeds from the sale of the Rhine Valley flight on 5 November 2001, the InterSky airline with operational base in Bern. Renate Moser was it the world's first woman who founded an airline.

At the site Bern came as the former airport director Charles giant looked over Europe for an airline that should revive the derelict airport Bern -Belp. The first flight of InterSky was on 25 March 2002; at the beginning they flew between the Swiss capital and the cities of Berlin and Vienna.

Development 2004-2010

From the beginning InterSky operated the airport Berlin -Tempelhof. When it was announced that the airport should be closed in late 2004, Renate Moser graduated personally at several citizens' initiatives to keep open the airport. Together with other airlines, it supported a lawsuit that ultimately led to an open attitude of the airport until the end of October 2008. InterSky flew to the end to Tempelhof and led on the very last day before the closure of several local flights to say goodbye together with the employees and the people of Berlin from the airport. A plane InterSky was also one of the last machines that could start in Tempelhof. On one of the last Tempelhof- flights, the pilot Viggo Bergers passed before the eyes of hundreds of onlookers with the usual in aviation wagging the wings.

2004 stationed InterSky after the departure of the Hahn Air Lines in Friedrichshafen, Germany, a machine that was underutilized in Bern. Since 2011

In January 2014 co-owner Hans -Rudolf Wöhrl announced that InterSky to medium merged with CityJet to a new society. CityJet had previously been acquired by private equity firm Wöhrls Intro Aviation.

Ownership

By February 2012, the airline was owned by the family Moser and Seewald ( 50% each ). Renate Moser served as Managing Partner for a long time the only woman to lead an airline and at the same time possessed. Rolf Seewald and Renate Moser retired in April 2007 from the daily business back and have since been represented as the owner of the Advisory Board. Moser's son Claus Bernatzik, who had taken over the management of InterSky 2006, left the company in late 2011. In February 2012, Hans Rudolf Wöhrl and Peter Oncken took over (among others with its advisory and investment firm Intro Aviation GmbH ) 74.9 % of the shares in Intersky. Destinations

InterSky connects the airport Friedrichshafen up to four times daily in regular service with the airports Berlin- Tegel, Dusseldorf, Hamburg and Graz. In addition, Graz and Salzburg are connected several times a day with Zurich.

In the summer months from April to October Olbia ( Sardinia), Calvi ( Corsica), Mahon ( Menorca), Split, Pula and Zadar are additionally from Friedrichshafen and partly also from Munich, Zurich, Memmingen and Altenrhein holiday destinations in the Mediterranean, such as Elba, approached. 2011, there were also charter flights from Memmingen Airport to Naples and from Bern- Belp Airport to Elba.

Since April 9, 2013 Intersky also offers scheduled flights from its new base at the site airport Karlsruhe / Baden -Baden to Hamburg. The route will be leased from Avanti Air ATR 72-200, which daily serves the route up to three times. This line was taken over by the insolvent OLT Express.

Fleet

2001 the fleet consisted of a Bombardier Dash 8Q -300. By 2008, the fleet was increased to four aircraft of this type. 2010, a ATR 42 was hired as the fifth aircraft and delivered later. 2012, a Bombardier Dash 8Q -300 was sold and two new ATR 72-600 have been ordered.

The Bombardier Dash 8Q -300 with the code " OE - LIA " flies with an advertising livery for the Austrian province of Styria for several years.

Trivia

On November 26, 2013 InterSky presented on the flight from Friedrichshafen to Krasnodar with a machine of type ATR72 -600 (OE -LID ) a world record.
