Interstate 405 (Oregon)

Interstate 405 (abbreviated I-405 ) is an Interstate Highway in the United States. It forms a bypass route of Interstate 5 around the city center of Portland.

History

Construction on Interstate 405 began in 1964. The largest part of the route opened on 25 February 1969, the portion of the Fremont Bridge on November 11, 1973. The cost of building the entire route totaled $ 121 million.

Course

After the turnoff from Interstate 5, the I-405 first runs in an easterly direction. After passing through the Portland State University, she leads north. Shortly thereafter, the Interstate 26 meets the U.S. Highway at the exit 1C.
