Interstate 480 (Iowa–Nebraska)

Interstate 480 (abbreviated I- 480) is a short Interstate Highway in the United States, which connects downtown Omaha in Nebraska from Interstate 80 in Council Bluffs Iowa with Interstate 29. The overall length is only 7.89 km (4.90 mi). The section in Nebraska is called the Gerald R. Ford Freeway.

History

Interstate 480 was opened on the 21 October 1966.

In 1999, the I- 480 should south to Plattsmouth and then extended in the direction to Interstate 29 to a total length of 31 kilometers. The bill the House of Representatives, however, never came by the committees. Instead, the Nebraska and Iowa started to plan two bridges over the Missouri River.
