Intonation

Intonation means:

  • In the music different, sometimes not interrelated things: the tuning of volume and timbre in keyboard instruments, the pitch especially with stringed and wind instruments and the vocals, also a short introduction of a piece of music. For an overview see Intonation ( music). In particular: Intonation (keyboards ), the tuning of volume and tone when key instruments
  • Intonation ( psalmody ), the melodic beginning of each Psalmtons before the recitation. This intonation is sung only the first verse of the Psalm. All other verses begin directly on the recitation. Exception is the Magnificat. Here, each verse with intonation is started.
