Inútil Bay

Bahía inútil

The Bahía inútil is a bay in the Strait of Magellan in southern Chile on the west coast of Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego towards the Isla Dawson. The bay takes its name ( "useless bay " ) the fact that it offers no protection against stormy westerly winds due to their wide opening and gently sloping coastal ships.

The 30- km wide and 60 km long Bahia inútil in sight of the Cordillera Darwin; Onaisín Villa and Cameron are the most important settlements in this region.
