Inverurie

Inverurie is a town in Aberdeenshire, Scotland with approximately 10,760 inhabitants ( 2004 estimate ).

The city is named after the River Urie, which flows into the Don at the southern end of town. The name, Inverurie ' comes from the Scottish- Gaelic word Inbhir Uraidh, which means " mouth of Urie ."

  • The Bass of Inverurie ( engl. The Bass of Inverurie ) and Inverurie Cemetery are closely spaced clusters of monuments from two historical periods in the south of Inverurie.
  • In Port Elphinstone, a southern suburb of Inverurie, is the Broomend of Crichie, a more than 4000 years ago for the first time used Henge system.
