IO Interactive

IO Interactive is a Danish computer game developer since 2004 for publisher Eidos Interactive part and is responsible for the development of successful Hitman series.

History

IO Interactive was founded after the closure of the publisher Scavenger and connected so that dissolution of the team Zyrinx. The team from Boston moved back to his native country Denmark and founded IO Interactive. Composer Jesper Kyd, who was part of the team Zyrinx, did remain in the U.S., composed to this day, however, even for IO Interactive.

The first release of the studio was Hitman: Codename 47, an action game about a contract killer, the increased emphasis on a secret procedure. The game proved to be both financial and critical success, and has since formed the basis of IOs development activities. Was published the game from Eidos Interactive, the successor to the Hitman 2: Silent Assassin moved. In 2003, in collaboration with Electronic Arts Freedom Fighters the title before the studio was finally adopted in March 2004 by Eidos. Under Eidos published IO two other Hitman games, and developed the new brands Kane & Lynch: Dog Days and Mini Ninja. In March 2009, IO was through the acquisition of Eidos part of the Japanese publisher Square Enix, who has since moved all the games of the developer.

In June 2013, Square Enix put the focus back exclusively to the advancement of the Hitman series. Other ongoing projects were reinstated and dismissed them in a row half the workforce at IO Interactive. The Austrian Hannes Seifert, previously production manager, has been appointed as the new Head of Studio.
