Iodocarb or 3 - iodo-2- propynylbutylcarbamate is a chemical compound selected from the group of the carbamates. It is used as a fungicide and wood preservative against brown rot, white rot and blue stain. In the field of plant protection iodocarb is not used in wood preservation, however, it is one of the most common active ingredients.
Production and representation
Iodocarb is traditionally obtained from n-butyl isocyanate. Instead also iodobutane and potassium cyanate can be reacted together and subsequently iodinated electrochemically with the addition of sodium hypochlorite.
