Iomud

The Iomud (also Jomud, Jamud, Iomudskaya (Russian), Yamud (Iran) ) is a Turkmen horse race.

Exterior

The Iomud has a long clean -cut head, sometimes with a Roman nose. The neck is of medium length, withers medium high, the back strong, the croup well rounded. The chest is flat. The legs are clean, slim but often bent. Mane and tail are sparse, the skin thin. He has a shoulder height of 150 cm, to coat colors are mainly gray and foxes, rare gold foxes and sable ago.

Interior

The Iomud is a long-lasting healthy horse with softly flowing transitions. The horses are kept in deserts and semi-deserts in herds.

Breeding history

The Iomud comes from Turkmen horses and was bred from the tribe of Iomud in Tashauz oasis in the south of Turkmenistan. He was also influenced by horse breeds in the steppes and refined after the 14th century by Arabian stallions. Since the pure-bred population of the breed is very fallen, 1983, a stud was founded to preserve the breed, which is to raise the current population size of 140 mares at 240-250 mares.
