Ion Dincă

Ion Dincă (born 3 November 1928 Cobia; † 9 January 2007) was a Romanian politician and army general.

Life

Ion Dincă was a skilled lathe before he struck the army career, of which he was appointed to the military advisor to the Romanian government in 1968 in the course. In parallel, its steep climb in the Romanian Communist Party, whose central committee he was a member from 1972 to 1989. He also served as Deputy Prime Minister (1979-1989) and Mayor of Bucharest ( 1976-1979 ). During the Revolution of 1989 he was among those who President Nicolae Ceauşescu encouraged not to give in to the protesters.

On February 2, 1990 Dincă was sentenced to life imprisonment along with Manea Mănescu, Tudor Postelnicu and Emil Bobu, but the decision was transformed into a fifteen year sentence. He came after five years and three months for health reasons and is released. In the following years he worked in the private sector in the company of his son.
