Ion Mincu

Ion Mincu ( born December 20 1852 in Focsani, † December 6, 1912 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian architect and politician.

Mincu earned an engineering degree in 1875 at the Romanian Academy of bridges and roads, from 1877 to 1884 he studied at the École nationale supérieure des beaux -arts de Paris, 1883, he received the title of Architect par le gouvernement diplômé ( DPLG ).

1895-1899 he was a deputy in the Romanian Parliament.

Work

Mincu was a pioneer of the New Romanian style, neoclassicism with a romanticized elements of traditional Romanian architecture.

Honors

1952, the Academy of Architecture was named after him, now University of Architecture and Urban Planning Ion Mincu.
