Ion Nunweiller

Ion Nunweiller ( born January 9, 1936 in Piatra Neamţ, Neamţ county ) is a former Romanian football player and coach. The defender played 336 games in the Romanian Divizia A and the Turkish Süper Lig and participated in the Olympic Games in 1964.

Career as a player

Nunweiller his career began in 1956 at Dinamo Bucharest, from their youth, he has emerged. On August 12, 1956 he returned to his first race in the highest Romanian league, the Divizia A. Nunweiller already developed in his early years an integral part of the team and had its share of three cup victories in the years 1959, 1964 and 1968 and four championships in a row in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1965.

After 16 years he left Dinamo in the summer of 1968, he was given the opportunity to move abroad. There he joined Fenerbahçe Istanbul. His time in Istanbul was just as successful as the previous time at Dinamo and was crowned by winning the Turkish Cup in 1970. After two years Nunweiller returned to Romania and was in turn to for Dinamo Bucharest. In the 1970/71 season he could of his title collection to add another championship before he was a year later ended his career.

National

Nunweiller played 40 games for the Romanian national football team. He debuted on October 26, 1958 in a friendly against Hungary. In 1964, he stood in the squad Romania for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where he was employed in all group matches as well as Viertelfinalaus to eventual Olympic champion Hungary. His last international game he played on 25 June 1967 at the latest game in Romania under the qualification for the 1968 European Championship against the eventual champions Italy.

Career as a coach

Immediately after the end of his active career took Nunweiller in 1972, his former club Dinamo Bucharest as a coach. Even in his first season he was able to win the championship. In the following season, he was replaced in fourth place lying to the winter break by Nicolae Dumitru. In March 1976, he was in turn the successor of Dumitru. With the championship in 1977, he won his second title.

In 1979 Nunweiller Dinamo left and took over the Romanian Youth National Team. From 1981 to 1983 he coached Gloria Bistrita in Divizia B, but missed each ascent. During the winter break 1983/84 he was coach at League Corvinul Hunedoara, whom he led to relegation. A year later, the club ended up in the midfield, but broke up just four games remaining by his coach.

In the summer of 1985 it took just in the Divizia A Ascended Team AS Victoria Bucharest in Divizia A under contract by which he reached the league. Then he oversaw from 1986 to 1989 the Ascended straight into the highest Romanian League team of Flacara Moreni, which he surprisingly could result in the European Cup in the 1988/89 season.

After a short time the Turkish club Bursaspor Nunweiller took over in April 1990 as the successor of Constantine FC Arges Pitesti Stancu, which was located on the relegation zone, and led the club to relegation. After the season he was replaced by Constantin Cârstea, from which he in turn took the scepter even during the winter break 1991/92. At the end of the season the club was relegated to the B Divizia.

In 1993, coached Nunweiller for a short time Ceahlăul Piatra Neamţ in his hometown and managed with the team promotion to the Divizia A. After he retired for a few years from football before to 1998 in charge of the women's team of Dinamo Bucharest of 1996. The last stop of his coaching career from 1998 to 1999, the FC Baia Mare, with whom he descended from the Divizia B.

Then he retired as coach and is now a consultant at Dinamo Bucharest.

Others

Ion Nunweiller comes from a football family. Each of his six brothers was an active football players, including Radu was also national players and Lică also in Divizia A active. To avoid confusion with his brothers, ion was performed in the Romanian sports press as Nunweiller III.

On 25 March 2008 Nunweiller by Romanian President Traian Basescu was " sporty Meritul " III for his life's work with the Order of Merit. Class excellent. He is Honored Master of Sports and Merited coach.
