Iona (Band)

Iona is a progressive rock band from the UK.

Band History

The band was founded in the late 1980s by singer Joanne Hogg and David Fitzgerald and the musicians Dave Bainbridge. Before the release of the debut album Iona more members joined. The album deals with the Scottish island of Iona, to which it relates and the band name. Iona treat thematically Although mostly Christian- Celtic mysticism, the band kept in interviews but objects to being called a Christian band. So Jonah former Uillean - Piper Troy Donockley avowed atheist.

The second album The Book of Kells is a concept album. Some of the album's songs are based on the part of the Book of Kells.

2006 Iona gave concerts in Germany and Switzerland before November 3, the sixth studio album The Circling Hour appeared.
