IONA Technologies

IONA Technologies is an Irish IT company based in Dublin. It was founded in 1991 by Chris Horn, Annrai O'Toole, Colin Newman and Seán Baker in the campus of Trinity College.

IONA has three main offices in Dublin, Boston and Tokyo. The company specializes in distributed SOA infrastructure. IONA products connect systems and applications by creating a network of web services, which does not require a central server. IONA products are particularly in telecommunications and the financial sector widespread use.

In June 2008, Progress Software announced announced the acquisition of IONA, which was completed by September 2008.
