Ioseb Chugoshvili

Iossif Tschugaschwili (born 27 June 1986) is a Belarusian wrestler. He won a bronze medal in the heavyweight division in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2008 European Championships.

Career

Iossif Tschugaschwili is of Georgian origin, but starts since the beginning of his career for Belarus. He wrestles since 1999 and focuses on the Greco- Roman style. He is a member of the army and starts for the Army Sports Club Minsk. His best-known coaches were or are Alexander Scheleg and Komandar Madschidow. At a size of 1.88 meters, it is fully in the heavyweight division, the weight category up to 120 kg body weight.

In the early years he achieved outstanding results at the Military World Championships 2006 in Baku, 2007 in Hyderabad and 1008 in Split, which were consistently occupied with strong wrestlers. In 2006 he placed 3rd, 2007 the 2nd and again in 2008 the 3rd place, thus winning three medals. At the 2007 World Championships in Baku, he came to his first appearance at a regular World Cup. He won two fights there, but then lost to Mijain Lopez Nunez of Cuba and Yuri Patrikeyev from Armenia and finished 7th.

At the 2008 European Championships in Tampere him then succeeded in winning a bronze medal. He lost there though in his first fight back against Yuri Patrikeyev, this bronze medal then secured but in the consolation round with victories over Rocco Daniele Ficara from Italy and Yannick Szczepaniak of France. In 2008 he was also the 2nd place in the Grand Prix of Germany in Dortmund at the start and reached there behind Mijain Lopez Nunez, but before Alexander Anuchin from Russia.

An excellent result achieved Iossif Tschugaschwili then at the 2009 World Championships in Herning / Denmark. He came there to victories over Masoud Hashemzadeh from Iran and Nurbek Ibrgagimow from Kyrgyzstan, then lost to Mijain Lopez Nunez, won over Rafael Barreno Martinez from Venezuela and was defeated in the battle for the bronze medal just against the Turks Riza Kayaalp.

In the following years he was repeatedly used in World and European Championships, but could never quite place in the front of the field itself. But in 2012 he succeeded again a great success, because he was able to qualify in the tournament in Taiyuan / China with a 2nd Plaltz behind Heiki Nabi of Estonia for the Olympic Games in London. In London, he lost his first fight against Heiki Nabi of Estonia. As it reaches the final, he was able to wrestle in the consolation round, where he first defeated Lukasz Banak from Poland, but then lost in the battle for an Olympic bronze medal against your Johan from Sweden. He therefore remained the 5th Place.

At the European Championships 2013 in Tbilisi he came close again with a very 5th Place a coin. He defeated there Mindaugs Mizgaitis, Lithuania, lost against the World Champion Riza Kayaalp, Turkey, triumphed over Radomir Petkovic, a Fuere Azerbaijan starting Serbs and lost the battle for the bronze medal against Guram Pherselidse from Georgia. At the World Championships in Budapest in September 2013, he won first over Hwang Jong -won, South Korea, but then lost a bit surprising to Robert Smith from the United States and therefore was only on the 12th Place.

Iossif Tschugaschwili is also several Belarusian champions.
