Iosif Rotariu

Iosif " Roti " Rotariu ( born September 27, 1962 in Prigor, district Caras -Severin ) is a former Romanian football player and current coach. As a player Rotariu played a total of 301 games in the highest Romanian league, the Divizia A, and the Turkish Süper Lig He participated in the Soccer World Cup 1990.

Playing career

Iosif Rotariu began at the age of 14 years in his hometown at Nera Prigor playing football. There he was trained by his father before he was a year later, in the 11 km distant Bozovici joining Nera Bozovici. At the end of 1977/ 78, the first team of the club relegated from the Divizia C and coach Ion V. Ionescu took Rotariu short time later to Politehnica Timişoara. His first try at the highest Romanian football league, the Divizia A, he played on 19 April 1981, when he was employed at the away game against Universitatea Craiova. In 1981, he completed his military service in Tulcea and played in the following season in Divizia B at Delta Tulcea to return in the winter break 1982/83 to Timisoara. It was followed by other appearances in the 1982/83 season, relegation at the end of the Politehnica Divizia B. Afterwards Rotariu became a regular player and managed to rise again. After he despite 10 goals scored in the 1985/86 season the renewed descent could not stop with Poli, Rotariu then moved to the newly crowned European Cup Winners ' Cup, Steaua Bucharest. There he spent his most successful period to 1990, in which he was three times champion and three- time Romanian Romanian Cup Winners' Cup in 1989 and reached the final of the European Cup of Champions.

In 1990 moved Rotariu - like many other strong Romanian player also - abroad and joined the Turkish club Galatasaray. There he won the 1991 Turkish Cup. 1992 seemed to be the career of Rotariu to take a turn when he moved to Bakirköyspor within Turkey. There he was rarely used and could not avoid relegation in 1993 also. After a year in the second division in 1995, he returned back to Romania to try his luck as an entrepreneur. The businessman Sava Simcelescu († 1999) Rotariu convinced of it, not even to finish his footballer career and instead to play for the sponsored him CFR Timişoara in Divizia B. There he received during the winter break 1995/96 the way to his home club Politehnica Timişoara return to the Divizia A. In Politehnica Rotariu was able to return to previous achievements, despite his age of 34 years, so that the club finished in seventh place at the end of the season. Rotariu then moved to OFK Kikinda to the second division of Serbia and Montenegro, but returned after a short time returned to Timisoara. During the winter break 1996/97 signed him Steaua Bucharest once more, and Rotariu graduated after five year break an insert in the Romanian national football team. With Steaua he won again in 1997 and 1998 the Romanian Championship and the Romanian Cup in 1997.

1998 returned Rotariu back as player-coach at Politehnica that played now in Divizia B. During the winter break but was obliged by FC Extensive Craiova, who was on his way to the Divizia A. After climbing Rotariu Extensive had to leave because of financial problems but already during the winter break 1999/2000. He joined Politehnica Timişoara again, where he ended his career in 2000 initially, but in the 2001/ 02 season was again at age 39 for the FC Bihor Oradea as player-coach in Divizia B active.

National

Iosif Rotariu denied a total of 25 caps for the Romanian national football team. He had his first appearance on 1 June 1988 he was appointed to the squad for the World Cup in Italy in 1990 as part of a test match in the Netherlands in preparation for the European Football Championship 1988. 1990 by the then national coach Emerich Jenei and played in all four games. Then he came into the national team hardly used. His last assignment, he celebrated in 1997 against Ireland, after he had previously been ignored over five years.

Coaching career

After the end of his career Rotariu in 2002 assistant coach of the Romanian national team. End of December 2002 he participated as players participated in an indoor tournament in which he collapsed. It was diagnosed with a brain tumor which was operated on 8 January 2003 in Timişoara. After a few months of recovery Rotariu started to operate in the football environment again.

2005 Rotariu was coach of the second team of FCU Politehnica Timişoara, who played in the League II. In June 2006 and in March 2007 he jumped into the League 1 at the first team for two games. After renaming the association in FC Timişoara and the descent of the second team in the league Rotariu III was appointed assistant coach Gavril Balint of at the first team in February 2009. He continued in that position under different head coaches from April 2012. He then took over second division side FC Bihor Oradea, but was released after three games.

In April 2013 Rotariu was Assistant coach Gavril Balint at FC Vaslui was dismissed, however, after the season because he was blamed for the failed transfer of his nephew Dorin Rotariu. In protest against this decision also head coach Balint his contract solved a few days later.

Awards

On 25 March 2008 Rotariu was " sporty Meritul " III by Romanian President Traian Basescu for the achievements in the national team with the Order of Merit. Class excellent.

Relationship

Iosif Rotariu has a twin brother. Ilie Rotariu ( born September 27, 1962) played himself twice in Divizia A and 2006 was assistant coach of Iosif at the second team of FCU Politehnica Timişoara II His nephew Dorin Rotariu ( born July 29, 1995) is also football player and for Dinamo Bucharest active in the League 1.
