Iowa County (Iowa)
The Iowa County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. In the census in 2010, the County had 16,355 inhabitants and a population density of 10.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Marengo.
Geography
The County is located in east-central Iowa, and is drained by the Iowa River. It has an area of 1,521 square kilometers, of which two square miles are water. At the Iowa County borders the following counties:
History
The Iowa County was founded on February 17, 1843 from former parts of Washington County in the area of the former Wisconsin - formed territory. It was named for the Iowa River, which flows through the county.

According to the census in 2010 lived in Iowa County 16,355 people in 6,391 households. The population density was 10.8 inhabitants per square kilometer.
The racial the population was composed of 97.8 percent white, 0.3 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 0.3 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 0.8 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 1.9 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
