Iowa Highway 21

The Iowa Highway 21 (abbreviated IA 21) is a state highway that runs from north to south in Zentraliowa. It has a length of 97.19 mi ( 156.41 km ).

Iowa Highway 21 has its southern terminus at Iowa Highway 149 near Hedrick and its northern terminus at a motorway junction with U.S. Highway 20 in Waterloo.

Route description

Iowa Highway 21 begins one mile ( 1.6 km ) west of Hedrick and continues north through Delta before he crosses the Iowa Highway 22 west of Thornburg. He continues north to Deep River where it crosses the Iowa Highway 85. After he has brought Guernsey behind him, he crosses first the Interstate 80 to then to take on U.S. Highway 6. With him he has a common route for some time; it changes direction and now leads east. Finally, he turns to the north near Victor. It then crosses the Iowa Highway 212 before he performs Belle Plaine then to cross the U.S. Highway 30. Next he goes north to Dysart where he directed westward and a common route with the Iowa Highway 8 has. He then goes on to the north and ends at U.S. Highway 20 at the southern city limits of Waterloo.

History

The current version of the Iowa Highway 21 is the second occurrence of this number in the state. The first version went from Ida Grove to the border with Minnesota and was eventually replaced by the U.S. Highway 59. The current Iowa Highway 21 was built in October 1934 and went from Victor by Dysart. It was in 1939 extended to the south un Although Victor to Iowa Highway 9 and 1969 in the north of Dysart to U.S. Highway 20 in Waterloo. In 1980 he was extended south from Iowa Highway 92 to Iowa Highway 149.
