Iowa Interstate Railroad

The Iowa Interstate Railroad (IAIS ) is a subsidiary of Rail Development Corporation. It is one of the few regional railway companies in the U.S. that is associated with several Class 1 railroads. Its main line runs from Council Bluffs, Iowa to Chicago with a branch line to Peoria, Illinois. IAIS also serves Cedar Rapids, but used to the distance of the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway (CIC).

The railway operated Intermodal terminals in Iceland Blue, West Liberty, Newton, and Council Bluffs. There are regular trains between Omaha and Chicago area. The company also provides access to ship - train terminals on the Mississippi and Illinois River.

The main transport goods are agricultural products, plastics, paper, steel, scrap metal, wood and coal. Increasingly important is the ethanol business. The Company currently participates in the construction of five production facilities.

The company is a member of the Association of American Railroads (AAR ) and the American Short Line and Regional Rail Association ( ASLRRA ).
