Iowa Stars

The Iowa Chops were an American ice hockey franchise in the American Hockey League from Des Moines, Iowa. The venue of the chops was the Wells Fargo Arena. The Iowa Chops were to the end of the 2007/08 season under the nickname of the Dallas Stars, the Stars farm team. In the 2008 /09 season, the team was new AHL partner of the Anaheim Ducks in Iowa. With the change of the NHL - partner team, the team name changed in Chops. Because a violation of the league rules the team for the 2009/10 season was excluded from the game. In May 2010, the franchise rights were eventually sold to the owner of the Texas Stars.

History

The Iowa Stars were founded by Howard Baldwin, Hockey Holdings & Management Group and Bob Schlegel and played their first season in the AHL game year 2005/06. The club had signed a cooperation agreement for five years with the Dallas Stars and a one year contract with the Edmonton Oilers. However, the treaty with the Stars ends after the 2007/ 08 season by mutual agreement. It was found in the Anaheim Ducks a new partner. In the course of partner change the team name in Iowa Chops has changed. Before moving to Des Moines the franchise from 1999 to 2001 under the name Louisville Panthers was active.
