Iowa State University

The Iowa State University (ISU ) is a public ( " public") University in Ames, Iowa. Its official name is Iowa State University of Science and Technology, originally Iowa State College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts. It was founded in 1858 and currently has about 27,600 students.

The university is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities, an existing association of leading research-intensive since 1900, North American universities.

The sports teams of Iowa State University, the Iowa State Cyclones. The university is a member of the Big 12 Conference.
