Ipiranga

Ipiranga is a neighborhood southeast of the center of São Paulo, with around 100,000 inhabitants ( 2000). The district is named after the river passing through Ipiranga, whose name comes from the Tupi - Guarani and translates as " Red River " means. Alluding to the colored rains in the red soil water

The connection to the underground network of São Paulo and several transit roads have led in recent years to strong growth with concomitant real estate speculation in Ipiranga.

The best-known attraction is the Parque Independencia to the Museu do Ipiranga (also called Museu Paulista ) with exhibits from the colonial era. Ipiranga is bordered by the districts of Vila Carioca, Vila Independencia, Vila Dom Pedro I, sacoma and Heliopolis.

Here Dom Pedro I declared, the first emperor of Brazil, 1822 independence from the Portuguese mainland. For this reason, the Ipiranga River is mentioned today in the Brazilian national anthem as follows:
