IPPAR

The Instituto Português do Património Arquitectónico, Instituto Público, often just too IPPAR, IP or even IPPAR was up restructuring the tasks 2007, the Portuguese State heritage protection authority. The function of this authority has taken now the Instituto de Gestão do Património Arquitectónico e Archaelogical ( IGESPAR ). The IPPAR resided in the Palácio Nacional da Ajuda.

History and Function

After the Euro Europe in 1985 adopted the Convention of Granada to the preservation of European cultural treasures, Portugal ratified the Convention with a presidential decree in 1991. Consequently, founded the government under Prime Minister Aníbal Cavaco Silva 1992, a State heritage protection authorities with the name Instituto Português do Património Arquitectónico to German Portuguese Institute for architectural heritage. The Authority was initially mainly the preservation of the Portuguese, monument worthy of protection buildings and other Portuguese cultural treasures and their integration into the Portuguese landscape. With another decree of 1994 the IPPAR got more rights in the reconstruction of individual buildings range. A complete codification of all rights and Pflichtes of IPPAR took place with the adoption of the Law 120/97 under the government of Prime Minister Guterres. The IPPAR under stood from the beginning to the Ministry of Culture, the Culture Minister, however, was not authorized to issue instructions. Furthermore, it acted financially independent and worked in concert with the government Instituto Português de Archeology to Portuguese German Archaeology Institute.

So built the IPPAR from 1992, a monument comprehensive database on which not only the Portuguese World Heritage Site and maintained under state supervision palaces included, but also numerous private buildings and monuments of nature in all parts of the country. For a better division of labor, the IPPAR in seven departments ( departamentos ) was divided, which dealt among other things with the financing, administration, research and documentation.

As part of the Programa de Reestruturação because Administração Central do Estado ( PRACE ) to German " program for the restructuring of the central administration of the State ", the government decided under Prime Minister Sócrates merging of IPPAR with the Instituto Português de Archeology and parts of the General Directorate for National Monuments DGEMN Instituto de Gestão do to neuzugründenden Património Arquitectónico e Archaeological, IP.
