Ippenschied

Ippenschied is a municipality in the district of Bad Kreuznach in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Bad Sobernheim.

Geography

Ippenschied located in the southern Hunsrück between the Soonwaldsteig and the former NATO airfield horse field. In the northeast is winter creek in the southeast Winter Castle and south is Rehbach.

History

The place was first mentioned in 1348.

Ippenschied belonged to the Rear County of Sponheim and was assigned to the division of Sponheim possessions in 1776 the Margraviate of Baden. After taking the left bank of the Rhine by French revolutionary troops (1794 ) the place from 1798 to 1814 belonged to the canton Sobernheim in the Rhine- Moselle department. Based on the decisions taken at the Congress of Vienna agreements, the region and thus Ippenschied came in 1815 with the Kingdom of Prussia in 1816 to the pie Kreuznach in the Region of Koblenz, which was part of 1822 on the Rhine Province.

The checkerboard pattern is reminiscent of the County of Sponheim, the plow symbolizing the agricultural village and the Hippe refers to the place name.

Traffic

Both the federal highway 41 (Saarbrücken -Ingelheim am Rhein ) and the Near Valley Railway (Saarbrücken -Mainz ) run approximately 13 kilometers south of Ippenschied. The nearest railway station is in Monzingen.
