Ippolito Sanfratello

Ippolito Sanfratello ( born November 3, 1973 in Piacenza ) is an Italian speed skater and Olympic champion.

Ippolito Sanfratello is an all-rounder who can run from 500 to 10,000 meters all routes. But he has become more specialized in long and medium distances. The greatest success of his career was the participation in the 2006 Olympics in his native Italy in Turin. In the team race, he won the gold medal with Stefano Donagrandi, Enrico Fabris and Matteo Anesi. He has also performed more than 1500 meters (18th ), 5000 meters ( 14 ) and 10,000 meters ( 12 ) to. In the single distance world championships 2005 in Inzell he won after a 15th place over 5000 meters with the Italian team silver in the Team Event. At the World Cup the all-rounder in 2006 in Calgary Sanfratello was seventh. The same rank, he finished in the same discipline in the same year at the European Championships in Hamar.

His debut in the World Cup was Sanfratello in February 2004 in the Italian Klobenstein ( 19 over 1000 meters in the B group ). His best and indeed only result among the Best Ten scoring with a seventh place over 5000 meters at the pre-Olympic World Cup in November 2005 in Turin. Once he was in the 2004 four-way battle behind the runner-up Italy's Enrico Fabris superstar.
