Ipse dixit

Ipse dixit (Latin for, he himself has said it. ', AltGr. Autós epha ) is an idiom that refers to a piece of personal authority argument. After Marcus Tullius Cicero, the students of Pythagoras of Samos should thus have to rely on its own statements because they were not allowed to question his teaching authority.

The statement is part of a strategy eristic. A dispute partner must therefore not necessarily be refuted within the truth, but may be rebutted statements within the constellation, which he has described as true.
