Iran–Armenia gas pipeline

The Iran - Armenia gas pipeline is a 140- km long pipeline connecting Armenia with Iran. The 100- km long Iranian section runs between Tabriz and the border river Arax, of the 40 km-long Armenian section joins here and extends to Meghri in southern Armenia. It was opened by the President Robert Kocharian and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on 19 March 2007.

The pipeline has a diameter of 700 mm and cost about 220 million U.S. dollars. The transport capacity is currently 1.1 billion m3 per year, but will be extended to 2019 to 2.3 billion m3, including the pipeline in Armenia extended by another 197 km on the track Meghri - Kadscharan - Sisian - Jermuk -Ararat must be.

Under the agreement between the two countries Armenia paid per m3 of natural gas each 3 kWh electric current. The construction costs of the Armenian section whose cost has been estimated at 35 million U.S. dollars will be leveraged to 80% of the Iranian Development Bank.
