Iraq Campaign Medal

The Iraq Campaign Medal was a military award of the U.S. Armed Forces, which was introduced at the direction of George W. Bush on May 28, 2004. The Afghanistan Campaign Medal was introduced on the same day. The design of the Order provided by the U.S. Army Institute of Heraldry. The award was presented during the period from June 2005 to 31 December 2011.

The award was presented to members of the U.S. armed forces, doing their duty in Iraq and its territorial waters. To achieve this award, a soldier had at least 30 consecutive days or a total of at least 60 days in the prescribed area perform his duties. The order was retroactive to March 19, 2003 given, so that the soldiers Iraq Campaign Medal given that prior to the official award date (June 2005) in Iraq had served. The awarding of the Order was limited to the duration of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
