Iraq Football Association

The Iraq Football Federation (Arabic الاتحاد العراقي لكرة القدم, DMG al -Ittihad al - ʿ Iraqi li - curate al - qadam ), the Football Association of Iraq. The IFA organizes all national teams in the country, and the Iraqi football championship.

History

The Iraqi Football Association was founded on October 8, 1948 by the merger of 14 teams. Obaid became the first president Abdallah. On June 23, 1950, the Association joined FIFA, 1971, the accession to the Asian Football Confederation ( AFC). Since 1974, the federation is a member of the Arab Football Union ( UAFA ) and since 2000, the West Asian Football Federation ( WAFF ).

In 1985, Uday Hussein, Saddam's eldest son, President of the Iraqi Football Association. After the fall of Saddam in 2003 it became known that football players were tortured after defeats. After the end of the dictatorship of former national player Hussain Said was elected President of the Association in 2004.

In November 2009, the association was dissolved by the National Olympic Committee and occupied the headquarters in Baghdad by government forces. Then shut the FIFA Iraq on 20 November OFF.The suspension was lifted until 19 March 2010. Prior to the dissolution of the Federation had been undone.

In July 2010, there was again a crisis around the football association in the country. For elections to the Bureau only 25 of the 71 deputies were published in Arbil, while the other held a meeting in Baghdad. FIFA threatened the country again with an exclusion, but later extended the term of office of the current dressing for another year

On 13 July 2011, the former President Hussain Said zurückt came from his office. The Bureau elections on 18 July Nadschih Hamoud was elected as the new president.
