IRB Nations Cup

The Nations Cup is a swept annually since 2006 rugby union tournament for men 's national teams. At the first held in Lisbon, the reserve team of Argentina and the Russian team involved besides Portugal. The tournament is part of a strategic plan of the International Rugby Board, which has a targeted promotion of the sport in countries where rugby plays a subordinate role, the goal. So should the reserve teams of teams from the first thickness classes ( first tier ) gain more match practice and teams from the second and third categories of skills should have the opportunity to compete with quality teams.

2007 advanced to the tournament to six teams. Russia and Portugal no longer participated, but were Georgia, Namibia, Romania and South Africa's reserve team, the Emerging Springboks, was added. 2008 Uruguay replaced Argentina's second team and Russia replaced Namibia. As of 2007, the tournament was held in Bucharest. In 2009, Georgia took part in the Churchill Cup, this time also lacked the Emerging Springboks. These two teams have been replaced by the reserve teams of France and Scotland.
