Irene Laskarina

Irene Laskarina (Greek: Ειρήνη Λασκαρίνα ), also called Eirene Laskarin (* 1200, † 1241 ) was the eldest daughter of the Byzantine Emperor Theodore Laskaris I.. She carried the title of Empress of Nicaea. In 1222 it fell from his horse and was infertile due to the consequences of their injuries.

She married the despot Constantine Palaiologos and after his death the successor to her father on the throne of Nicaea. She died ten years before the death of her second husband.

Historians will particularly praised for her modesty and it is thought that they could improve the overall morale and discipline in their empire based on their behavior.
