Irene Papas

Irene Papas (Greek Ειρήνη Παπά - Irini Papá; born September 3, 1926 in Chiliomodi at Corinth, Greece; actually Irini Lelekou ) is a Greek actress. From 1943 to 1947 she was married to the director Alkis Papas.

Life

In its more than 50 -year career, Irene Papas has played in over 80 movies. By her early career in Greece she was there already famous when they - discovered by Elia Kazan - began, including in international, critically acclaimed films such as The Guns of Navarone, Elektra, Alexis Sorbas and 1969 in the two nominated for an Oscar films play along Queen of the Thousand Days and Z.
