Delavay iris ( Iris delavayi )

The Delavay iris ( Iris delavayi ) is a plant of the genus Iris (Iris ) within the family of Iris Family ( Iridaceae ).

Features

The Delavay Sword lily is a perennial plant that forms a Rhizomhorst and reaches stature heights of 90 to 150 centimeters. The stem is branched. The flowers are shorter than the stems. They have a diameter of 7 to 9 cm. The Hängblätter are colored pale or dark purple. Your plate is round and has a large, white middle spot on. The Domblätter are obliquely upwardly directed outward.

The flowering period is in July.

Occurrence

The Delavay iris comes in Southwest China before in Northern Yunnan, Southwest Sichuan and southeastern Tibet. It grows in wet meadows and marshes at altitudes 2440-4460 meters.

Use

The Delavay iris is rarely used as an ornamental plant for natural gardens, pond margins and discounts. It is in culture at least since 1895.
