Iris Szeghy

Iris Szeghy ( born March 5, 1956 in Prešov ) is a Slovak- Swiss composer.

Iris Szeghy comes from a Hungarian family and grew up in Slovakia. The composition studies she graduated in 1989 at the Music Academy in Bratislava from. After the turn they introduced scholarships and composition stays in various countries in Europe and the United States - among other things to Budapest, Warsaw, in the Akademie Schloss Solitude in Stuttgart, at the Hamburg State Opera, the STEIM studio in Amsterdam, at the University of California in San Diego, in the artists Worpswede and Boswil. Since 2001 lives and Iris Szeghy works as a freelance composer in Zurich.

Szeghys works includes orchestral, chamber music, solo and vocal works that are performed in concerts and festivals around the world. The String Trio " Goldberg " was premiered in 2008 at the Lucerne Festival. Commissions they received, among other things, by the Bratislava Music Festival, the Hilliard Ensemble, the Pro Helvetia, the bandstand Zurich and numerous ensembles and musicians worldwide. In 2007 she received the composition prize of the canton of Zurich, in 2010 the art prize of Zollikon.
